Co-located with the MEM headquarters is Mekong Church, Mercy Christian School, Mercy Home (Orphanage), Mekong Bible Institute and Seminary, Mekong Radio Ministry Ministry, Mercy Credit Union, and Mercy Foundation. We anticipate our primary responsibilities will be:
  • Using micro-finance to create jobs for the unemployed, especially those in the faith, and pull families out of poverty
  • Training business skills to Christians to open new roads for the gospel to reach previously closed areas of Southeast Asia.
  • Introducing appropriate technology to solve problems that inhibit community growth
  • Working with pastor's and church plants to create sustainable ministry within their communities.
  • Training in technology skills relevant to the ministry of the church and to open new avenues for the growth of the ministry

Where we live

The primary ministry of MEM is among the Isaan people of Northeastern Thailand. This is a very large group of 22 million with a dialect that is very close to that spoken in Laos. Only the alphabets are different. Though very hard working, the Isaan people are generally poor, involved in agriculture, and most live in rural villages. A large majority of the Isaan people are Buddhist while less than 1% are Christian. The Isaan region, considered the poorest in Thailand with an average per capita income of around $350, also has the fewest missionaries per capita in all of Thailand.

Nonprasert, meaning "Holy Hill," is located about a 1/4 mile from the Mekong River which separates Thailand from Laos. It is in a very rural area, surrounded by rice paddies and small villages of mostly rice farmers.
