The Isaan people, located in Northeastern Thailand with a population of about 22 million, are largely unreached for Christ, as this map shows. They are predominantly Buddhist, but incorporate both animism (spirit-worship) and Brahmanism into their religion. They believe that to be Thai is to be Buddhist, and cannot accept Christianity since they view it as foreign. One of the reasons MEM has been so successful in reaching the Isaan is that it is shared from the national/indigenous people who are not foreigners. The green section on the right side of this map is where MEM's headquarters are located, accounting for the larger number of Christian.

Please pray that misunderstanding about Christianity would be corrected, that people would truly understand the gospel, and that the gospel would spread through this land.

NEW! Thank you for keeping us in your prayers! These are our current requests (updated June 2011)

• Praise God that we are coming up on our one year anniversary in Thailand and for the growth and learning that's taken place in each of us. 
• Continue to pray for our language acquisition. We now have a tutor twice a week, so we are hopeful that we may learn this language after all! She is a non-believer, so pray for her salvation.
  
• Lori is now working with the English Department as a teacher trainer and teaching an English class to the ministry kids. Pray that the teachers would come to know Christ and that the skills they are learning would increase their effectiveness in the classroom.
• Please pray for our health. We seem to catch every illness that goes around the village, maybe because they're all new germs to us. Pray that our immunity would be strengthened so we have a healthier second year.
• Please pray that Satan's attacks on this ministry would be ineffective and that the Christian village of Nonprasert (which means "Holy Hill") would continue to be the Light for Christ that the Isaan would see and come to believe.
  
• Continue to pray for our marriage and family health: physically, spiritually, emotionally, socially.
